Welcome to Ashurst CE Aided Primary School
On behalf of the pupils, staff and governors, a warm welcome to Ashurst CE Aided Primary School.
At Ashurst, we aim to create a happy, safe and caring environment, based on Christian teachings, in which every pupil is uniquely precious, gifted and valued and given opportunities to realise his/her potential, where so ever that may lie.
Ashurst aims to provide an exciting and stimulating learning environment, with a strong culture of mutual respect, where pupils begin to take responsibility for themselves, the local community and the world in which they live. Pupils develop self confidence as learners and progress academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
Ashurst has the highest expectations and aspirations for all pupils and is extremely proud of their achievements in and out of school.
Ashurst CE Primary is a small village school, approximately four miles north of Steyning, in West Sussex. It was opened in 1873 and the school LOG BOOKS record there being sixteen pupils in attendance on its first day with Headmistress, Miss Isabelle Buck, living in School House! There are currently sixty-six pupils on roll, ranging from 4 – 11 year olds; and taught predominantly in vertical year groups, with the exception of Foundation Stage.
The school enjoys wonderful support from parents and carers; and the local and wider community. It has a well-established Home-School partnership and effective group known as the ‘Friends of Ashurst Primary School’.
